In one part of the news, anchorman tu cakap ada wartawan kat economic conference tu tanya wakil China, 'When the Chinese Government will allow its people to elect their own leader?'
In one sense, OK la kan - sekilas pandang macam those in the West ni ambik berat la pasal prinsip demokrasi kat dunia ni (walaupun pada pandangan aku, apa-apa acuan Barat tak semestinya bagus). Jawapan dari wakil China - 'Different part of the world has different ways,'
OK.. Aku setuju (cuma tone suara anchorman tu kedengaran sinis, cynical.
Lepas tu, berita pasal serangan roket Israel dekat Semenanjung Gaza pulak.
'This Palestinian woman asks over and over again - "What have we done to deserve all this?"
'It's the answer that they all know very well - because they have elected for a Hamas government in the last election,'
At this point, kau boleh rasa betapa benci sampai nak penendang aje diorang ni. It's hard to imagine, tak terbayang dek akalmu, in one part of the world, they say that democracy is the only way of the world. Tapi pada masa yang sama, they do nothing when a nation is physically and emotionally paralyzed because they have DEMOCRATICALLY elect a goverment which is not supprted by the West.
How weird is that!
But not all is bad. Aku rasa sekarang ni there are more and more TV shows that openly critized Tony Blair's one-man decision to attack Iraq.
It's weird when the whole nation opposed the action, but the attack went on.
How democratic.
Eh, series pulak kali ni.
